Your Ain Sokhna experience, made effortless
This tour begins the same way as the standard Cairo trip, then adds something different. After the pyramids at Giza you travel south into the desert to Saqqara, arriving by 4x4 for a safari that skirts the escarpment, includes a camel ride across the sand, and finishes with lunch before you return to the coast.
Saqqara is the right place to do this. The desert here runs right up to the Step Pyramid, the desert cliffs are honey-coloured in the afternoon, and the necropolis is far less crowded than Giza. A camel ride here has a completely different character from one at the plateau: you are in open desert among pharaonic tombs rather than outside a ticket gate.
