Your Cairo experience, made effortless

This is the straightforward version, and for a single port call it is the one most guests should take. Port Said to Cairo is about three hours, which leaves a genuine full day at the two sites almost everybody comes to Egypt for, and you are back at the terminal with time to board.

The pairing is deliberate. The Giza Plateau is open, bright and physically demanding, and the Egyptian Museum is cool, quiet and dense with the objects that explain what you were just looking at outside. Doing them in one day means you understand the morning by the afternoon.

Your guide is with you privately, and the museum visit is the counterweight to the heat of the plateau. If your ship sails early, tell us when you book and we will shorten the route to suit rather than rushing you through it.

Your route

How your day unfolds

Your Egypt Rest Tours representative meets you at the cruise exit door with a name board and walks you to your air-conditioned vehicle. Please allow roughly three hours for the drive to Cairo.

You pass the canal and the northern suburbs, then join the Cairo road corridor. A short stop is made at a roadside rest stop for refreshments.

You arrive at the Giza Pyramids complex. Your guide leads you to the southern entrance and the Great Sphinx, then walks the plateau to the base of Khufu's pyramid. You have free time here to take photographs and, if you wish, purchase a camel or horse ride outside the fenced area.

Lunch is served at a local restaurant in Giza.

You transfer to the museum beside Midan Tahrir. Your guide focuses on the pharaonic galleries, the Tutankhamun rooms and the royal mummies, and leaves you free time to explore at your own pace.

You begin the drive back to Port Said, arriving at the terminal with a comfortable margin before your ship departs.

Yes. The drive is about three hours each way, and this tour spends the middle of the day on site rather than in the car. It is a long day, but almost none of it is transit.
