This excursion is built around a two-port itinerary: you leave the ship in Alexandria, spend a full day in Cairo, stay the night, and are brought back to the ship in Port Said for its second call. If your ship only calls at Alexandria, this is not the right tour.

With a full day rather than a rushed one, you can cover Egypt's essential arc in order of chronology. You start at the pyramids on the Giza plateau, cross the causeway to Memphis, the ancient capital, and go on to Saqqara, where Djoser's Step Pyramid predates Giza by about a century. You finish the afternoon at the Egyptian Museum, and the second day adds the Citadel and Khan El Khalili.

One night in a five-star Cairo hotel, your own guide and vehicle throughout, and a return timed to be waiting as your ship arrives in Port Said.
