Your Luxor experience, made effortless

Combining Cairo and Luxor in two days sounds ambitious, and by road it would be relentless. By air it works. This tour takes you from Safaga to Hurghada airport for an early flight to Cairo, gives you a full day at the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum, flies on to Luxor for the night, and covers the Theban sites the following morning before driving back to Safaga.

This is the most ambitious excursion we run from Safaga, and it suits guests who want to see the capital and the Valley of the Kings in a single port call and who would regret missing either. It is a long day one, with an early start and an evening flight to Luxor.

Day-by-day itinerary

Safaga Port, around 05:30 — Your Egypt Rest Tours representative meets you at the cruise exit door. The drive to Hurghada airport takes approximately forty-five minutes.

07:00, flight to Cairo — Domestic flight from Hurghada to Cairo. You are met at Cairo airport and driven straight out to the pyramids.

09:00, the Giza Plateau — Guided visit to the Great Sphinx and the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, with free time for photographs.

12:00, lunch — Lunch at a local restaurant in Cairo.

13:30, the Egyptian Museum — The pharaonic galleries, the Tutankhamun rooms and the royal mummies, with time at your own pace afterwards.

17:00, flight to Luxor — Return to Cairo airport for the domestic flight to Luxor. You are met on arrival and driven to your five-star hotel for check-in and dinner.

19:30, overnight in Luxor — Dinner and the evening free at your own arrangement.

08:00, Karnak Temple — The great hypostyle hall and the complex dedicated to Amun-Ra, built and enlarged over more than two thousand years.

10:30, the west bank — Cross the Nile to the Valley of the Kings, where your guide selects the tombs worth the ticket rather than the crowded ones you can walk past.

12:30, lunch — Lunch at a local restaurant in Luxor.

14:00, Hatshepsut's Temple and the Colossi of Memnon — The terraced mortuary temple of Egypt's only female pharaoh, then the two colossal statues of Amenhotep III.

15:30, return to Safaga — Drive back to port, approximately three hours, timed so you reach the terminal comfortably before your ship sails. Free time for shopping in Luxor on the way.
